Dvorak's Resort

Pelican Lake, Wisconsin

Grounds Information

Un-loading and Parking

When moving-in, please be considerate of others wanting to do the same.  Do not drive on the grass.  Our parking areas provide excellent security for your vehicles (out of sight of road traffic) and a make a better view of the lake for all.  Please drive slowly when using the driveway.

 Green Areas

We have about two acres of green area interspersed between the cottages.  This common area is used for all kinds of recreation.

 Swimming tips

Our beautiful sandy beach runs about 100 yards out with water depth up to 3 feet.  At the end of the weeds, a drop off to 10 feet occurs very rapidly.   Never swim alone.  Always swim with at least one other person.

 Piers

We have two docks (each 90 feet long) with multiple berths for boats.  Our piers are constructed with large timber boards or heavy metal and assembled to maximize dock strength.  Waves are very powerful and can cause severe damage to boats or docks.  Boats can be tossed around like puppets.  The sheer weight of the dock provides an anchor point for your boat.  Store your boat with the bow out.  Leave slack in tie lines so the boat can adjust to the wave motion.  Keep enough space between boats.

Pets

Sorry but we do not allow pets.

Horseshoes

Enjoy a game with someone special or have a tournament.  Anyone can play.  Make sure the only ringers are around the peg.  Safety makes good fun.

Water Volleyball

Play volleyball in the lake.  Challenge your neighbors to a match.  Spike up your week with a few aces.

Fire pit

A common fire pit is located near the shoreline.  Guests from all cabins gather around the pit to enjoy the scenery and tranquility of the evening.  Some cook over the fire and others simply socialize.  Either purchase firewood from the resort or bring your own.

Laundry

Need to wash some clothes?  No problem.  We have a laundry!

When going for a boat ride

Be careful.  Lake depth out to the end of the weeds can be from barely passable to rocky.  Always steer to the right, heading away from the weeds.  Then you will avoid the rock bottom in that area.  Tilt your motor up to avoid contact with the sand bottom.  Full power can be applied when lake depth is sufficient to handle the down draft of your motor.  Always follow the rules of safe boating.

Air Pump

We have an air pump to inflate inner tubes and other toys for the water.  No need to bring yours.

Bad Weather

Can happen at any time during the summer.  A safe shelter is the concrete block pump house.

Emergency help

Is located at the hospital in Rhinelander or in Antigo.  Weekdays, the clinic in Elcho may help.

Charcoal Grill

Each cabin has a Weber grill.  You must supply charcoal and lighter fluid.

Picnic tables

Many tables are scattered around the green areas.  Move them around as needed.

Fish Cleaning

A screened-in fish cleaning shack has running water and cutting areas.
